This course serves as a one-semester introduction to the area of graphic design. Through hands-on experience, students learn the basic skills used in the preparation and production of simplified printed items. Concentrating on professional communication projects ranging from concept development through print, students develop and strengthen the skills that lead to conceptual design solutions.  The focus is on the thought process behind good design and on problem solving in a "real world" context with emphasis on solutions that are appropriate to the client and the audience. Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop are used as primary tools in completing a variety of design challenges.
